Health Care Card

BENEFITS COULD INCLUDE:

Commonwealth Seniors Health Card

MEDICAL AND PHARMACEUTICAL BENEFITS

  • The Commonwealth Seniors Health Card provides discounts on Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) prescription medicines. You may also need to show your Medicare Card when lodging your prescription at the pharmacy.

YOU MAY ALSO GET A DISCOUNT OR CONCESSION ON:

  • Bulk billed doctor appointments, at the discretion of the doctor
  • Cheaper out of hospital medical expenses through the Medicare Safety Net
  • Concessional rail travel on Great Southern Rail services, such as The Indian Pacific, The Ghan, and The Overland.
  • In some instances, extra health, household, transport, education, and recreation concessions that are offered by state or territory and local governments and private businesses – these providers offer concessions at their own discretion, and the availability of these concessions may vary between states and territories.

Taxi Service – Half Price Program

Eligibility

The Victorian Government wants to make sure that the Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) is helping the people who need it most. You can become an MPTP member if you meet the residential, medical and financial criteria.

Residential criteria:

  • you must be a permanent Resident of Australia and live in Victoria.

Medical criteria:

  • you must have a severe disability that prevents you from safely and independently using public transport.
  • you must have a permanent disability
  • you must have a disability that is not likely to improve with treatment.

Financial criteria:

  • you must hold an applicable Centrelink or Department of Veterans Affairs pension card, or
  • you must be able to show you have financial hardship by providing financial information.
